PLETTENBERG BAY becomes South Africa’s WHALE  nursery between May and November when the SOUTHERN RIGHT whales arrive to calf and mate in the shallow, sheltered waters that are free of ocean traffic. One can also watch the Orca and Bryde’s whales breaching in the bay while the dolphins play in the water too.

Not only do we boast the largest marine mammal but the forests also boast the largest land mammals. ELEPHANTS are shy animals and it is rare to see one in the forest but we do have  an ELEPHANT PARK that is well worth a visit. We are also blessed with game farms that offer the BIG 5. Game drives are available and White Rhinos, elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, buffalo and many other  animals can be viewed.

Other great animal sanctuaries include Monkey Land, Birds of Paradise, Cheetah Sanctuary, Snake Park and Wolf Sanctuary.

For those who prefer an “adrenaline rush” you can experience the worlds highest Bungi Jump, absailing, white water rafting, helicopter and microlight flights.

PLETTENBERG BAY has some fine Golf courses including GOOSE VALLEY and PLETTENBERG BAY COUNTRY CLUB, tennis is also available at both these venues and bowls at the country club.

POLO has also been established in PLETTENBERG BAY and an international tournament takes place every year at the KURLAND POLO.

Vineyards have recently been established in PLETTENBERG BAY and BRAMON, a uniquely PLETTENBERG BAY brand and has put PLETTENBERG BAY on the wine route!
